Suspicious Dots On 5 Cent Coin - Coin Community Forum

TheDeductible Pillar of the Community Canada 851 Posts	Posted 01/29/2021 2:06 pm I know this isn't a variety but does anyone know what the suspicious dots are. Look close and you can see raised circle dots in three places: I in Victoria - there is one dot to the right of the bottom serif and another just above the I at left. R in Victoria - the dot is on the outside left side of the R. The dots are very circular. I don't have the equipment for a closer shot. This is a Newfoundland 1881 5 cent so it's already pretty tiny. This is the closest magnification my iPhone can do. I appreciate all discussion. Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

In the photo, it looks like a line from the bottom of the VI, up to the C, back down to the bottom of the T, then across the O ? If that is indeed a die crack, raised dots occasionally occur along them. Report this Post to the Staff
