Jital From 'Ala-Ud-Din Of The Khwarezmian Empire (I Think)

bennycunha97 Valued Member Portugal 51 Posts	Posted 11/08/2021 12:37 pm Hello everyone! Today I got some neat coins and will be sharing a few over the following days. This was identified as a Jital from 'Ala-ud-din of the Khwarezmian Empire, but checking Tye's book on Jitals, I don't see a perfect match although a few are close. Here are the pictures To me both sides of mine look very close to the reverse of Tye 287, but no coin in Tye has that feature. And I can's really see how mine has a side close to that obverse. Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 11/08/2021 1:24 pm The reverse of your is indeed the same as Tye 287: al-sultan al- / 'azam 'ala / al-dunya wa al-din / Muhammad bin sultan The obverse seems to be another die with the same inscription. Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 11/08/2021 1:54 pm I don't know. I'm not entirely confident that both sides are the same. That's what comes to mind at a glance. It does look exactly like Tye's illustration but I don't agree with his reading of the obverse. Tye cites an unpublished specimen in Tubingen.
