So I got bit again on a RPM and dug out my 1964 nickels to find a better MM when I found this 1949 S mint mark. I don't remember where I found this coin, but there it was. Looked at how many minted and discovered it was just over 9.7 mil so thought I would show it. Too bad it isn't the D over S as that is worth a few bucks. Coin is worn from circulation but ok to show. Regards and i'll keep looking through my 1964's for a RPM. Regards all.

Are you saying this coin is an RPM?

Nope not a RPM. I was looking for one in my nickels and ran across this 1949 S. Sorry for the confusion.

nice find. you are now a member of the 9.7 million club - (assuming that all are still in existence, have been found, and only one nickel per person..)

Always good to come across the low minted nickels...not as obvious a find as a silver coin.

A tough one to find in circulation. Decent EF-40 coin.

I like the Jeff Nickels since you can complete (1950-D?) the whole run of 80+ years from circulation. Not so likely with dimes, quarters and halves (silver).
