Mrichter830 Valued Member United States 79 Posts	Posted 05/19/2023 12:18 am Just started hunting halves and 2 1/2 boxes in I'm not loving it so far. One silver. Maybe a few DDO but I need to verify. Anyway today I bring you this coin below. I'm leaning towards this being PMD. I'm not sure how this would or could happen otherwise but you never know. There is a large "2" on the obverse just to the left of Kennedy's ear. It's about the same size of the ear and a perfect 2. It is machined and incuse. I hope I used the right terms there. Correct me if I'm wrong but the way they make these counterstamps is the same way they would have done privy marks or mint marks back in the day right? Hand punched. Report this Post to the Staff

Hand punched. Correct, but the counterstamp is hand punched into the finished coin, whereas the privy marks were applied to the die.
