This might be something I have sealed. I wasn't sure if the graders would do anything with it or not, but it's still sealed. Did the mint sell this as a sort of "opes, found these in the back of the vault" kind of sale?

This is what I found, Gilly.
"The U.S. Mint found a small batch of 2017 Proof Silver Eagles during a 2019 year-end audit. Instead of melting the coins, the U.S. Mint chose to release them to a select few dealers in 2020."

I just double checked, as I have it written on the mint shipping box.
I have an 18EA (2018W proof) purchased from the mint in 2023. Same thing, they were clearing out the vault. I think there was a list of products you could select from.

The 2017-W is the only ASE I have that was released a few years after it was minted. I'm glad the mint chose not to melt them down after they were found. I happened to think that there should be an invoice on my mint account, here it is. I still can't remember how this was advertised by the mint.  |
