From what I researched, the "doubling" is more of a large L over a small L in the ribbon, that's how it's listed in indianhead varieties. Above the last 9 in the date, it looks like just above the 9 there is a arch like you see in 1869/9 coins. I think 1909 was the first year that the master dies got the date stamped in them. I am not sure about that, but I think Rick Snow mentioned it in his book. Report this Post to the Staff

There are no listings for either a RPM or MPD for this date, only DDO. That's very interesting. It's a nice "woodie" too, the planchet material wasn't mixed thoroughly. Thanks for the reassurance. Kevboe11 Valued Member United States 73 Posts	Posted 12/01/2024 04:03 am And the environmental damage you are seeing is what I explained earlier as a "Woody", improper alloy mixture, it makes the planchets appear like grains of wood, found in Indian Head and Wheaties. There are actually collectors that pay a premium for this condition, not many but there are some. Report this Post to the Staff
