Thank you for the update. Still a week left in Q2 and I am still pondering a purchase.

This was supposed to be the month when I actually added many coins to my local collection. Then things got hot (...or, hotter than previously, at least) with Iran and now I'm not sure when I'd be able to get back to that seller.
At least they're in my city, so it shouldn't be quite as hard to contact them if things calm down!

My 2d quarter accomplishments in red (I was a bit more active than 1Q)
1. Catch up on processing acquisitions from 2024 (not a lot, for better or for worse, but I seem to be getting more disorganized in retirement). 1Q progress: About 90% caught up
2. Continue to add early dated/datable coins in the 1400s, 1300s and "decade coins" earlier. Last year's goal was 3 to 5, and I wound up with 11 (5 dated and 6 dateable). I'll go with a goal of 5 this year, since I think the dated ones will get tougher. 1Q: Zip 2Q: Dateable coins of 1243 (Sicily), 1427, 1462 and 1468 (Florence)
3. Continue to grow collection and knowledge of saints on medieval coins. Last year I added 14 in this theme, and 15 the year before. 1Q: No acquisitions, but continuing to learn. 2Q: St. Hermagoras (Aquileia, Italy), St. Paternian (Papal States-Fano) and St. Medard (France)
4. Continue work on Numista catalog. I've still got some cleanup/restructuring in early Low Countries coins to complete. 1Q: Added a co-referee to help in Low Countries, and added 215 listings to the catalog, mostly medieval Italy. 2Q: Added about 100 more listings, mostly medieval Italy and Byzantine Empire.

Thought provoking ...
I'll continue to slab everything that is worthy ... the PCGS "bulk special" helped in 2024. Anything not "gradable" will be sold, giving me the ability to trade up in grade or buy the slabbed coins I desire.
Something we might all think about: I want to leave, to my wife and kids, something that they can manage. None of the 3 have the interest or knowledge, that would allow them to protect my collection. Slabbed coins can be verified and valued easily, even for a non-collector ... gives me peace of mind to think that a "less than honorable" buyer can't take advantage of my Family.
That being said ... Morgans Morgans Morgans :)

Here is my H1-2025 update: Quote:1. Work on my set of Curacao & The Netherlands Antilles. This is proceeding very well. Got to buy a few commemorative coins for this set when I visited family in The Netherlands in late May, early June.2. Add to my set of Provincial Coins of Utrecht. I did attend the New York International Numismatic Convention (NYINC) in January of this year to look for Dutch coins, but the NYINC turned out to be a bust. Didn't see anything to my liking.3. Continue with my Symphony Set of Coins. Include raw as well as graded coins and medals. Adding to this collection proceeds slowly. Mostly the occasional ebay buy. I decided to have some of the commemoratives I had as raw coins to be graded by PCGS. These coins can be quite valuable and took up too much space in the album.4. Complete more subsets of my Birthyear Set Collection. Proceeding slowly.5. Circulation Cameo Morgan dollar Date Set. Started this set in late 2024 as I wanted an example of an iconic 19th century American coin to complement my already complete 20th-21st Century Type Set. I completed this set recently, see https://goccf.com/t/472351

I'm late to this one. My goals:
1. Same as tdziemia: Catch up documenting prior acquisitions. 2. Acquire rarities as they become available. (Rare as in 'this may not show up again in my lifetime,' but not necessarily expensive.)
Most of my goals at this point are more research & documentation based, and not so much actual collecting (i.e., physical coin acquisition) outside of big rarities or variations of common issues.
I have a lot of boring life expenses this year, so I won't be doing a ton of buying. Breaking my arm in January pushed back a lot of my documentation & writing-based work.
I did hit my 200th early dated coin earlier this year, so I guess that's kind of a milestone. I also acquired my first contemporary counterfeit early dated, a 1479 double briquet from Brabant. (Not very valuable, but a fantastic research piece.)

I think I'm coming close to my goals. The very first was to establish a full Libertard collection. The Mexican coin is so gorgeous, its premiums so high, some of its mintage dates so low, that even tho its a pretty modern coin it demands being in the numismatic club anyway. And anyway this proved impossible due to the lack of coins available and/or the prices involved so I fell back on my 2nd goal and that was to just gather a smaller amount of interesting and low mintage Libertards. I did some of this before the 1oz ones became almost impossible to even find. Still, I bought some nice coins from interesting years. Here are some. Next I wanted to document and display the currencys and coinage of the first half of the 20'th century in order to remember the momentous events that led humanity to such carnage and evilness. That first 45 years was the perfect Storm of greed, egos, Empires, economic ruin and stagnation, vicious Dictatorships, and the courage it took to bring an end to it despite the cost both in money and human lives. And "war" is about money in the end. Money in the form of PMs, of resources, of power, of greed. Ive posted many pictures as Ive kept you up to date on the project but in general Ive keyed on pre-WW1 when our economies were relatively stable and the spark was the Euro-Empires, the kings, Queens, Lesser Monarchies, Federations. Europe was a far different place with the lines on the map far different and America was just a bit player. An emerging power at best. Next was the inter-war period when American investment helped heal the economic ruin brought on by WW1. Like, for instance, when so many MSDs were melted down to save the British economy from disaster. But with the fall of Wall street this all came to a bitter end and we all started knowing hunger and financial ruination. Which set the stage for the next act in the third decade of the century. It was in 1923 when Hitler tried his failed overthrow of the Weimar Republic. A decade later he used the Democratic process to co-opt the Parliamentary system, even tho he himself was never elected to anything, and establish a Dictatorial Govt. with emergency powers. And he was helped along thanks to the greed of the big Industrialists, the bankers, the wealthy, who feared communism and thought they could control him. The important dates of 1923, 1933, 1936, and 1938 I tried to key on. For the currencys it was pre-WW1, 1922, 1923, and I have some very interesting post crash notes still coming along with Japanese ones. Speaking of which I have some fascinating Japanese and Italian/Spain coins both on display and still coming. I added some interesting MSD's to my collection, which was a goal. I wont go into details but my goal was to simply add some interesting coins. I was able to buy about 5 or 6 Carson City ones including a few MS65 "Hoard" coins. Gold and silver I added a lot of as an excuse to pursue my true love which is collecting numismatics. 2024/2025 was my first year at this and tho I spent a small fortune I think enough was spent on bullion to protect my numismatic love. I just hope the next year bring even more.
