1941 Lincoln Cent Die Dent - Finger Feeder Die Damage?

This die pair had a rough day. The obverse die sustained a significant dent from something, leaving a strongly raised impression on this coin. The angled photo shows that the raised area is probably 1/4 to 1/3 as high as the relief on the date. Since this is raised on the coin, this coin had to have been struck after the die itself sustained damage, or the object would have left an incuse impression into the coin.

What did this damage to the die? Finger feeder?
