Today I visited both BoA branches in an adjacent town. The young teller at the first location told me she had 10 half dollars. I heard the sound of silver as she counted them. Five were Kennedy half dollars containing 40% silver. Not a bad start...
During the afternoon, I stopped at a different BoA branch located near one of my "dump" banks. I always take the empty box there and humorously ask the same teller to fill it with half dollars. Previously she never has had any of those coins. But today she smiled and told me that she had been keeping two rolls for me "for several weeks". When she handed them to me, I saw they were in old-fashioned wrappers and were heavier than usual. I asked her if she remembered which customer had cashed them. "It was an old man."
