Every once in a while, I buy a coin where I have to grapple with photos. Usually a doubled die with split serifs is easy to image—you just direct the light low and flat at a 90 degree angle to the splits, and they show right up. That should have been even easier with this coin, because the edge of the doubling goes straight across the tops of LIBERTY, with split serifs to the left on both top and bottom. But nothing I did seemed able to get both the top and bottom splits illuminated at the same time.

Thanks, guys. =)

Full disclosure: that final image that shows all the doubling is the seller's image. I don't think I can get close to that without hauling out the full camera setup.

That's a nice variety. I like your finds and the detail you put into showing the attributes of each variety. That's not so easy sometimes. Thank you.

But then the nice light reflection changes as the letters curve and follow the rim. So, it's almost like the more doubling there is, the more images it takes to get all the doubling to show up.

The first image seems to show doubling on both the top and bottom of the "E" pretty well.

There are some die flow lines as well, so maybe being a later die state makes the doubling less pronounced and more difficult to show.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Much appreciated. =)

Many folks here set a fine example for documenting varieties and errors. I try my best to follow their lead.
