Does anyone recognize where and when this coin may have been issued. I'm assuming it is Asian, but I'm not even sure what is the correct orientation. Diameter 2.4 cm. Weight 7.8 g

I'm reluctant to soak this coin to get rid of the verdigris since it most likely will attack the limited detail remaining.

Perhaps, but it doesn't look like any Asian coin I've ever seen. Did you find/purchase it in Asia? Or why do you think it may have originated there.

Also, based on these pictures, it appears as though all of the marks are incuse rather than raised. Can you please confirm that is the case? If so, then I think that @scu was right in their assessment. Maybe an old British Halfpenny slick that someone has marked up?

If you rotate the second photo abouit 30 degrees counterclockwise,
I see a horse or bull left with head turned right/ Style is more reminiscent of Lascaux than bull and horseman jitals I can recall.

The coin was part of my Uncle's collection from the 1930s and it was marked "possibly China". He would have obtained it in Europe.

All the lines on front and back are raised. They are not etched.

Ok thx for this additional information and the clarification on the markings. I'm stumped but will move your thread over to a different subforum where we put things that we don't know what they are. Hopefully that will get some good eyes on it.

Also, as to soaking/cleaning, definitely hold off on that step for now. The surfaces are a wonderful brown and it would be a shame to change that.
