Picked this up in a lot recently. I'm trying to decide if it has been cleaned or just uneven toning or something else.

Thoughts?

When I see red/orange on a 200 year old copper coin I automatically think "cleaned". But it seems that the color is in the protected areas, so it may not have been cleaned. Tough call from pics, dar.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Like Hondo, I think the red is in protected areas. Cleaning usually looks opposite, where the protected areas stay brown.
