Got a new camera and am trying to relearn how to post images. Can't for the life of me figure out how to use this sites new Free Image Optimizer so I'm trying to find another option. Sorry to repeat as this coin has been previously posted but it was quite awhile ago.

Apparently the rubber band reacted to the silver through the envelope.

It means meow did not store it right.

That's really interesting, actually. I have an ASE with a bazillion hairline scratches from wiping that I would like to tone (naturally). I will have to try a rubber band wrap.

Your coin, Meow, has probably gained a little value for the toning.

Yea, its kinda neat. The blue stripes give it like a racecar look. Was not intentional on Meow's part at all. Meow bought some ASE as a minor investment years ago. They are 2009s, Meow knows that 2009 nickels and dimes have added value. Wonder if it applies to ASE too? Meow recently started coin collecting, and remembered have those stashed in the Cat hoard somewhere; So dug them up to put in the 2x2 clear flips Meow bought for CRH finds. Meow really enjoys coin collecting, and it gets all of Meow's attention as of late. Meow has had plenty of help with coin questions here, and appreciates you all. But some don't seem to like Cats, and they feel they have to tell Meow about that........

Dog people... sigh...

I'm a liberal cat person - I allow dogs have a place. As objects of Catly scorn!

Meow didn't do badly - the ASE is still worth it's silver value and the unusual toning might bring a little premium.

"Rubber" bands often use a little sulfur as part of the process and sulfur is what tones coins. So, in 20-20 hindsight, with paper being somewhat porous, not a surprise...

With a little looking, you can find hidden gems, even ones that aren't technically supposed to be auctioned...
