Acetone should remove that tape residue. However, I would leave it. It probably does add some character, especially knowing your great grandmother is responsible for it.  |

Marketing pressure - they know a slab will get more money - so who cares about preserving the history of how this historic gem was first presented in its original/special case/box?  While we are at it, let's go paint the words "Approved As Authentic" at the top of the Mona Lisa. |

This coin could have been certified in its original holder, and that would have been the better way to handle it, IMO. How bizarre that this proof has a business strike reverse! I LOVE enigmas like this. For a while the DDR FS-801 was KING, but no longer. This coin is far above even that rarity. Now when I search for Nightcrawlers I can also be looking for this one too. Ya never know..... |
