Thanks

I mentioned the "other 3" in my collection. Turns out, I had one all along in my registry set (PCGS MS65 CAC). LOL. Seriously, I got it out of my off-site safe today at lunch and snapped some pics....
Fantastic!

Glad you asked, Kehinnc. A while back I created a thread relating to my registry set FEV (PCGS MS66). Here is the link:

And this link will take you to the Ike Group Resource Page for further information. It's a fun and fascinating variety with a UNIQUE reverse!

My latest from the realm of what if?

"1975" Eisenhower dollar O/S by Daniel Carr (ANACS MS69). It is really neat to look at this and imagine what a genuine CuNi clad business strike Ike would look like in this impossible condition. This is the closest we'll ever get.

I remember back in the day, ALL I did was scour ebay looking, hunting for FEV's...it was so much fun to find one before the other guys did...I'd stay up in the wee hours of the morning, checking "Newly Listed'....sure did nab quite a few back then, and, to be honest with you, it STILL is a fun hunt for me, when I take a break from my cryptocurrency activities.
My best was a true Proof Planchet FEV...1971 was THE year for IKE stuff to hunt for...maybe when I settle down, I'll post some pics , but, need to get my boxes out of the off-campus vault.

I've hunted for the Nightcrawler in this way. Sometimes it can be an absolute nightmare because lighting can play tricks on you. I've purchased two 1971-S proofs in the past thinking they might be Nightcrawlers, but no score. If the listing doesn't say "coin pictured is the one you will receive," then I ask if it is. Too many stock photos being used for my liking. You're right, though. Even with occasional frustrations, it's a fun endeavor.

Finally hunted down my Eisenhower dollars. Forgot I had this bicentennial beauty in there.

Edit: Is this a Type 2?

Chuckster,
Sorry for the late response, DarthMorgan Lit a Fire in me with the Proof Planchet topic.
THE 71D DDO-01/DDR-01, FEV on a proof like planchet may be a first I am not quite sure yet I have been spending ALL free time digging out Eisenhower's from storage ( My Goodness They Are Everywhere) and with my eye in the glass following where ever the facts lead me. I have to contact Rob and get my password reset over there.( Lost It) LOL. then I may post it on there once I find time to properly Photograph it.

P.S. I know if it is a discovery piece my 2 yr old grand daughter is going to love it when she gets older

DarthMorgan,
Congrats On the Proof Planchet Finds, They look Amazing. And that Daniel Carr Specimen Is Just Plain Cool. Always Loved His Work

I do believe Ilikeikes is absolutley correct in his statement "Awesome pics Darth..you know, I'd say about 1/1,000 of 1% of the coin collector's would even know what a "Proof Planchet
' IKE is all about."

Also This Statement ilikeikes Made
"Remember, there are a FEW 1972's PP's out there also!!"

I have learned over the last couple weeks of drilling into this subject hard, it is not just the 71 D's. I have also found some 72 D proof Planchets among the hoard of Ikes I have been digging out and I have also seen a couple on eBay

I do believe that Proof Planchet General Circulation Ikes From The Denver Mint Are Quite A Bit Rarer Than What was Previously Believed. And Are Definitely Something I am Actively Pursuing as a Rarity Among Ikes.
The fact that they are not attributed by the Major Grading Firms is not a dissuading factor to me. Look how long it took them to attribute the 1971 D Friendly Eagle. With 11 distinct Pickup Points...Forever..Yet They Attributed The Wisconsin Extra Leaf Quarter Withing What? A couple months of its release
And We have a quote from one we KNOW is VERY Knowledgeable in the area of Eisenhower dollars, to the point where I feel like a kindergartner on the subject and am always learning from what he and others post

Quote: "19Lyds The hard facts are that San Francisco DID send planchets and various other items to the Denver Facility as evidenced by the 72-S, 74-D, and 77-D 40% Silver IKE's. It is also evidenced by the Type B Rev 1969, 1970, 1971, and 1972 Washington quarters. This is undisputable evidence."
