Good luck with the pennies, my last 3 penny boxes were so lame, like 10 wheats all from the 40s or 50s...killer boring

Yeah my boxes recently have been producing 4-8 wheats. However I got my first Indian Head cent a few boxes ago. An i'll keep trying dimes. Only problem is how expensive a box is when you get nothin out of it. It's much easier on me financially to have $25 in change instead of $250 lying around. |

firstcoin, I had a teller tell me that they wanted me to call ahead and order boxes only so they could guarantee they had one for me and didn't run short that week, and to cut the amount of time it takes them to get me out of the bank. it does indeed save them about 2 minutes trying to round up what I ask for - when I call ahead they have it all right there at the counter. they were very friendly about it. I could easily see that if she didn't have good people skills, she could very easily have come off put-out or snobbish or something.

Im right there with you murr , did 3 boxes today and found 59 ,63d,64d .
Average of 1 coin per box its only better then my skunks from last week !

My first dime box crawl resulted in
1 1953
a small stack of 1976 in good shape
9 OSS
a small stack of BU, and
a 1983P and a 1989P with full bands.
Not a bad haul. :-)

All customer-rolls today, 50 of them ($250 total), and I found a single Canadian and two Silver Roosevelts: 1964 and 1955-S.

Went through my first bank bag - 3 silver - 1957P x2 & 1959D. Nothing else of note. Onto the bag of quarters I swapped it for!

Picked up my first box of dimes today, figured I would give them a try and see what I find. I was surprised as the teller told me no problem but that if I needed large amounts of coins in the future I had to have a business account instead of just a personal account.
I did want to ask, the box I received was a brown box with green print on it and all the rolls were plastic wrapped. Which company distributes these and are these rolls I should avoid in the future?

brinks used plastic shrink wrapped rolls for sure, but other companies could as well I suppose.
A lot of people have a problem with these rolls, but if you look back a few pages I found 4 silver dimes in my last box like this and 8 silver canadian quarters in my last box of quarters. I live in the states but silver is silver and no one pulled any of it from my box like some on the forum claim happens to them. Search search search, that is my advice

I find silver in those wrappers, just as well as in the paper wrappers.

I agree. The key to the finds are search, search, search. The more you search the more you find. There are alot of theorys out there but it is all by chance.

Box #4 was a bust. But I can't complain. We scored in Half Dollars today. Check out the thread if interested. =D

got 1 box of dimes and scored just a 1964 better than nothing since my bank screwed me on the half dollar boxes ha  |

Searched two bags of dimes ($500 each.)
First bag: 5 silver dimes, oldest 1960D
Second bag: 2 Silver dimes, both 1964D plus one 20 centavo Mexico (modern.)
No trash, no Canadian coins.
Haven't searched dimes before. I guess this is okay.
