On my day off today I was pulled like a magnet into town and picked up $1,000 in a bag of loose dimes and $300 in rolls. This all from one bank that was ready to ship out the 1k in dimes. I scored 6 rosies total. My wife texted me a pic of a crisp '64 quarter she found in $30 worth of quarters she went through at work. Not a bad day. I told myself I could go all of January without roll hunting. I guess I wrecked that idea!

Hi guys,

Visiting from "Kennedy Roll Hunters" forum, here on CC.

I have to tell you, one can definitely still find silver in boxes.
I just found 16 silvers in my last 2 boxes. 2 were Walking Liberty's. Today found 2 40%'s in teller trays, AND 1 Roos dime in the reject tube in the coin machine I was dumping at. That's why I'm here visiting your forum to see how things go in the dime hunting arena. I've been wondering if I could find silver hunting dime boxes. What say Ye?

Thanks!

I had a dream last night that I was told that I could buy bags of dimes and quarters from the pay toll, I woke up this morning realizing it was a dream and have been in the worst mood all day

Hi Bernie! Well, I've been looking for halves for 4 years now and my boxes have been pitiful since the beginning. All depends on your area. I know the guys on the east coast do well. There's just too much comp in my area and has been ever since silver was $9 an oz. My best box 2 years ago gave up 27 silvers, and I can go 10 boxes without even a 40%. I do dimes because the finds are consistent, and I like the variety as I get lots of silver canadians, mercs, and have found a half-dozen barbers. With the halves, the dumps just keep on re-circulating within a 50-mile radius throughout the boxes. Best of luck if you take on the dimes! FFD

I was going to get 4 boxes today but I got lazy and only got 2. One box was all 2011 d which upset me. but the other had 3 silvers.

Box #56:

1951
1959 d
1964 d

by the way, I don't include full boxes of brand new coins in my box count. I just don't think it counts.

You should open the box in front of the teller and check the ends of the rolls to see if they're all new, uncirculated coins. That way, you will not get a box with 2011 or whatever the year is.

I usually do check, but keep them anyways. I feel like it would be rude if they brought a box from the vault for me and I was like "Can I get a different one" or "nevermind, I don't need this". I feel like it keeps a good relationship if I just take what they give me.

Anyone else have a different approach when you get a box of new coin?

MY APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE! I picked up a $250 box of dimes today at my main bank. A favorite teller of mine ordered a box for me last week. Unfortunately for me, when I arrived this afternoon, she was at lunch. Another teller sold me a sealed $250 box of dimes from her mini-vault/safe. Much to my dismay, THE ENTIRE BOX consisted of BU 2011d dimes! I opened all the rolls and placed 'em loose in a bag to take to the coin counter tomorrow (banks in my area DO NOT accept rolls (too many ppl trying to rip them off)). Again, I apologize for not having the foresight to keep a few rolls intact just in case someone here might have wanted them.

Picked up $300 in CWR's, no silver, this is the first time in the week and a half I have been searching CWR dimes that I have not found silver. Tomorrow is a new day and a new box of CWR's.

Jinx M0nks! Found me a 41 today too.
Dime-Roll-Searching

I also found this 96-p that I dont understand. Its rim is wide and smooth and is noticeably raised above both sides of the coin. The coins diameter is also smaller than other dimes. I hope the pics help but I dont have a good way to photograph the coin from an angle. If its PMD I would really like to know how it would be so evenly done.
