From what I have been reading here, it seems the better percentages
are from CR pickups than from boxes.
Are boxes from the Fed and therefore likely to have newer coinage?
Just asking seeing how I am new to this.

kenscott - it's more like people are depositing stuff that has been laying around their house for years or in some cases cashing in coin collections while not knowing the true value.

I have had such good luck this week with dimes so I picked up $420 in CWR's today and the streak continues, found three silver dimes.
1 x 1964
1 x 1952
1 x 1947
total silver dimes for the week is 5

Do you think boxes are coming from the Fed? I highly doubt it, are they being processed and rolled locally or from a central processing center? Even brand-new coins?
Do these central processing centers, ie; (BOA, Comerica) qualify as "the Fed?" Anyone?
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...

Boxes are not coming from the Fed...I know in my area they come from Brinks. And silver dimes you can still find,but they take all the silver half dollars out. Thats why I dont even bother with half dollars,because I already know I wont find any silver.  |

Well it was the picture I posted in the page before this, but I notice something behind Roosevelt neck and under his neck like if it was shifted ever so slightly when being punched

Well, so far I have searched around $175 and found a 1958 and 2 1964s. These all came
from CR rolls. I think I will continue with this strategy based on what I am reading here.
Also, I am trying to limit my request to around $20 to $25 per bank hoping the tellers will just
give me what is in their drawers. So far, the ones in the drawers seem to be CR from what I have experienced.
A teller at my new, secondary bank asked for my name and phone number this past Friday saying she know of someone bringing in $800 worth of halves they were rolling themselves.
To me $800 in halves is tempting but who would have that many unless they were a searcher themselves? This being said,
I plan on getting them anyway in hopes it may just be an older person cashing in an old stash.
I plan on checking back tomorrow when I go to the bank to recycle my non-silver dimes.

Thanks for the good wishes for the motherload, I can really use it right now. Hopefully, it turn up a few.
Going to the bank today and getting some additional dimes to go through. If I am going to do this as much as
I think I may be doing it, I may get one of those electronic sorters (the basic $30 version) and build my own
case. Then again, I like my current way of doing quick scans.
I take a clear penny tube and slide the dimes into it. From there, searching the edges seems to be fairly easy.

I did one box of brinks dimes, and skunked, no silvers or mercs. I'm gonna do some quarters and nickles this week, working on some albums.

my experience is that any box type, and any roll type give me the same amount of silver no matter what the denomination. Plus, it's all about luck. What if your customer wrapped rolls were made by me. People are way too skeptical
Going to hopefully get some boxes of stuff today. Hopefully back onto the weekly searching bandwagon
