Quote: My first two boxes of dimes are clear wrapped rolls from Brinks.
From edge searching with my coin loupe, I do not see any silver. I am wondering if I should break them all down anyway. Well, depends on your method of dumping. That's the beauty of clear Brinks rolls, like having x-ray vision. You don't have to unwrap (I wouldn't) and you can return the entire box.

I think I will return the full box to a different branch. The partial, I will deposit at my CR.

I ask my CU or bank, "can you use a box of dimes? They are already rolled, can be visually inspected by teller, why not? I have never been rejected turning in a box, or even a String box machine-rolled (all 2008, 2010, 2011 etc).

While turning a partial box this afternoon, a new teller told me they had just prepared a large bag of coins to go back to the Fed. She said if people brought in a lot of rolled change, and nobody asked for it, they send it back to the Fed.
I told her next time they had a lot of pennies, dimes, etc. to let me know before they sent them to the Fed. I told her I would like to get them and go through them first.
She said okay and the regular teller also now knows. I have a strong feeling I will be getting a call soon enough (the senior teller at the CU is one to remember).

when returning a partial box or full box that is clear wrapped... and they ask where you got them. Do you just say you search silver and didn't see any in those rolls? cause when I take in a full box they usually look at me strange like where I got them. because people who usually get a box of coins don't return them.

They usually don't ask where I got the box, as most of my tellers know I've been roll hunting for years. Also, never in the last four years have I ever mentioned the word silver. I don't mention or show my finds, and I rarely bring treats anymore because it just tempts tellers to search the rolls themselves, thinking "this guy must be finding good stuff if he's willing to bring us treats all the time."

I snagged a 1948 and a 1950 today! Plus a bonus 2008 Panama Balboa. I really like those coins.

I finally got a box to search this last week and after a while I got through it. Hard to get back into it I found no silver blah I think thats only like my 3rd or 4th skunk box of dimes ever real bad getting back to roll hunting box I did search 200 bucks of my box of quarters though and have found a 1951 so I'll be a bit happier in that thread when I finish that box Hopefully I'll be getting back into it again until next time keep it up guys GOO
