My Mom gave me the best silver ratio yet: In my "stocking" (yes, this big boy still gets a stocking from Mom -- she's a sweetheart), she stuck $50 in CWR dimes inside, because she knows I am a roll hunter. This produced two silver dimes: a '54 my wife found, and a toned near-BU '64 I found.

Yes dimes certainly aren't my thing. I only do them every now and then but only because I have to wait a week for the bank to order more halves. Nickels I don't really find that interesting and pennies, well no US silver in there, and for quarters, well there might be 1 or 2 if I'm lucky per box.

really? you get one or two quarters per box? I've been through around 3000.00 in quarters and have come up with nothing, expect for a couple of drummer boys.

I am searching a box right now. I found a 1985p that looks like a double P.
I found 1 silver. I look for DDOs and rupunched mintmarks but have a hard time seeing them. I use a 30x loop and assume I will recognie it when I see it. Shoul I use something else? Do any of you have any pics of a DDO or a double P? I am pretty sure about the P but would like to see some pics so I know what to lok for. Thanks.

I have gotten $200 in CWR before - found a 54' Roosie. It occurred to me as I was searching though, do cwr's open you up to fraud (pennies in rolls) and people skimming some dimes off (48 or 49 in each roll instead of the full 50). Any of you all that deal in cwr's ever have that problem?

nobis,

not really. the banks generally aren't going to cause a fuss if it seems like 1 dime or so is missing. you can also just say that you didn't know and they were just like that (which, at least in my case, has been the truth).

if you're quite a bit off then the bank might quibble with you.

these days I like to keep a handful of clad dimes handy when searching so that if I find a shorted roll I can add one in.

PS--generally, I average about 1 or 2 shorted rolls per 500 in CWR I do. with dimes, that doesn't add up to much so I don't really care, so yeah, nobis, i'd say you can expect to get shorted a little bit with the dimes, but don't sweat it too much.
