Found this little gem wedged halfway between a roll of pennies in my box search today--clear wrapped box from Wells Fargo. You just never know what you're doing to find in those penny rolls! I have actually been finding a lot of dimes mixed in but couldn't believe I found a silver one! I thought you folks in the dime forum would like to see it.  |

I am new to the forum, but have read here for a while and this has been my favorite thread
I usually go through 2 boxes a week and average about 3 silver dimes a box
I have a dansco album and am trying like some others on here to get a full set from circulation.
I searched 2 boxes yesterday
box 1: 1964 (gave it to my little brother)
box 2: 1964 D
1960 D
1957 D
I searched box 1 with my little brother and whatever we found I was going to give him. He is only 10 and can't get his own money from the bank to search, so sometimes I take stuff over to his house to search with him. Too bad we only found 1. Going to get 2 more boxes today. Good luck all

Nice finds all ! You guys find some nice dates with mm but me , I keep findind the same dates . Just got 1 box and hope I ll have some to show . Good luck !

Ok, so I need some advice for dime roll searching. Actually this probably applies to all roll searching, but currently I'm doing dimes. :)
How do you organize as you're going through? I suppose it depends on your goal, right? If just looking for silver, easy to just toss the non-silvers (i.e., 99.95% of the coins) back in the box the rolls came out of, and then take to the bank and dump. Similar for the higher grades. Just pull them and put them in a small pile/stack.
What about if you're sorting by year and mint and such? The tall stacks or piles of dimes (cents, nickels, whatever) get pretty unwieldy once you get past roll 20 or so. Your silly cat walks by and knocks the stacks over with its tail. You bump the table getting a beer and the stacks collapse. However, stacks are more compact (in upright form) than several containers strewn all over the table. Guess I'm just looking to see what methods y'all use.
And, to keep this on-topic/thread, are there any dime-specific methods that you employ? My goals are 3:
1) Build an album of the best quality/grade dimes I can find from my rolls.
2) Find/hoard silver
3) Find key dates, errors, and DDs

the way I sort my dimes is pull all the silver, errors (cuds, die cracks, stuff that really sticks out), 1969 dimes, 2009 dimes I place them in separate piles Any really nice dimes I usually put back in because I see so many it isn't really worth me keeping them I used to use small paper cups to sort years of pennies when I was making my LMC date roll set Dixie cups are a dollar at the dollar store if you want to go that route, I would suggest it place the date of the coin on the inside of the cup with a sharpie, recycle the cups though so write small and reuse those are my tips and practices |

Hit a small town bank this afternoon just before closing. Purchased $100 in halves, $50 in pennies, $50 in dimes, and $100 in nickles. Just searched the dimes and pulled a 1956. The halves were a bust which I figured after the lady hands them over and says a collector has already gone over them.

just scan the edges for WHITE... dont bother with any varieties and such...
can get through $100 in 5 min
