wd1040 Pillar of the Community United States 3098 Posts	Posted 10/31/2010 04:39 am huh... found this in the lot. The rim beading seem to have been stretched out, but the edge of the coin is smooth and not lettered. Could this been an error or is it a damaged coin? Report this Post to the Staff

Scissel Pillar of the Community Canada 693 Posts	Posted 10/31/2010 10:22 am It looks like it's minted on an undersized planchet; either an elliptical clip or a planchet intended for another denomination/country. Is the coin fully round? Does it weigh less than normal? Report this Post to the Staff
wd1040 Pillar of the Community United States 3098 Posts	Posted 10/31/2010 12:37 pm It's not fully round, and it is underweight. It seems to be off from around 9 o'clock to 4 o'clock, and the edge is flat at those parts as well. Report this Post to the Staff

Either it a material defect that happened during the production or it is the planchet of a different coin. Would be interesting to know which coins the have minted in 1970 there. Exact weight could be useful. If the planchet is too small,it is consequential that the coin is not perfectly round. Report this Post to the Staff

Were modern Swiss coins ever struck by other mints? It seems like the first possibility is that it's on a planchet for a French 5Fr, but also could be the blank was made too small.
