goosenamedal New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 03/29/2011 5:35 pm I've had this coin since I was little just tucked away. I have no idea what it is and don't even remember where I found it. I'm 24 now and found it tucked away in some old storage. I've always wondered what it is. Any help would be much appreciated :) Sorry for the picture quality couldn't seem to get it to focus right. Edit: Put a better picture of the front up, Not much of an improvement. Just can't get a great one with either of my cameras : The head side looks like it has an H and an Upside down Triangle on the left side and then HOC on the right side. It's just a tad bit smaller than a penny but not by much. The back side looks like it has a man in either a chariot with a shield or possibly a man sitting on a bench with a jug, it's hard to tell. Sap Moderator Australia 16894 Posts	Posted 03/30/2011 5:54 pm The lettering on the obverse is in Greek. It reads (delta) H M O C, or DEMOS in Latin letters. Demos was the personification of "the People". Use of the letter C instead of the traditional E-shaped letter sigma indicates this coin is from the Roman Provincial period, probably first, maybe second century AD. A better view of the reverse might let us read from which city the coin came. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
