Well I bought a lot of coinage of the Bay and they arrived today.

I am so unsure nowadays of whats real and whats fake with morgans that this is going to be my last Morgan purchase. I need to learn more about spotting fakes but dont know where to look for up to date info about that. So here she is, links because I took such large pics.

Weight is what has me concerned here. 26.31g. Just using a digital reloading scale. I dont know if weight is a good indicator anymore. It sounds like silver, but then again some fakes do too.

Any help here guys would be appreciated

Not a thing, including the weight, makes me think it's a fake. The weight is within 2% before accounting for wear. The 2 is a little funny, but that's characteristic of 1882's. The wear pattern is appropriate.

Enjoy your (real) Morgan.

Looks good to me, too. You can still make out small details such as die polishing and such, also.

I would agree with you, though, about learning to spot fakes. Just because these are authentic doesn't mean your next purchase will be. ;)

I paid a little under spot for it because it was part of a lot. I love Morgans but buying them has been nothing short of nerve wrecking at times.
