XF45 details, light cleaning/dipping. Assuming striking issues on the back given the detail in the hair.

EF-40 Nice coin! Hard to tell if there was an old cleaning or not.

I agree with Rachums. Def EF40. Kinda looks like some old cleaning. Hard to tell though.....

I agree with the majority, EF-40 detail and a possibility of cleaning that affected the color. I don't see any hairlines in these photos. That ding below Liberty's knee is slightly distracting but still pretty minor.

These late dates are low mintage and tough to locate. Not cheap either; it's a fine present.

What's the story behind your 1882 collection? Is that date particularly significant for you?

I agree with the consensus, EF-40 with what looks like a old cleaning.

Great coin! I will be telling my wife about yours! A little competition is probably good.

My goal since I've started collecting it to obtain a complete set of 1882 coins designated for circulation. They also made a proof 1882 Trade dollar, but I don't consider that made for circulation (it's also extremely expensive).

Here's a nice story:

My grandfather showed me his small collection when I was a young boy. The coin he showed me first was an 1882 silver dollar. That dollar was 100 years older than me since I was born in 1982. Every summer when I went to my grandparents farm I would look through his small collection which fit insude a jewelery box. One year he gave them to me and said he wanted to make sure they went to me. I continued to look at the collection every now and then until a few years after he died. That 1882 coin sparked my interest in coins and I began collecting. With the addition of this coin my 1882 set is complete. I now have all 5 Morgan dollars (which includes the O/S variety) and all the other 1882 coins meant for circulation.
Yesterday was my 29Th birthday and I feel like a part of him lives on because of the small collection he shared with me. The original 1882 coin he shared with me is not part of 1882 coin collection I plan on making a display for.
That coin is in F condition and I prefer to be able to hold it rather than making it a display piece that I can only look at. That coin has more value to me than any other coin I possess as it's what started it all for me.

KisNap,

Nice coin and very nice, touching story. It's always nice to hear the stories of what got us all started.
