I would give $30, but of course thats only because I like that particular coin. I think that toning is amazing! My dealer has a ASE in the windowsill of his shop that has toned red on the bottom and looks !

Anyone here ever dealt with the dealer, "legacy coins". Just wondering. Went on their site and they have some amazing coins, makes me want to get a 2nd mortgage tomorrow and go ballistic

fwiw Grancap, I wouldn't buy it. The surfaces are too awkward for me and there's just something about it I don't like.
That said, if I had a nice big collection of nice indians, I might like this one just because it's different.
I know a couple of the people from Legacy (if it's the group I'm thinking it is). They offer loans on coins - very interesting program. Good people, but their stuff is - I shouldn't say overpriced, but I'll say they set the bar high for the market, IMO. I'm most often looking for a "deal" rather than the perfect coin, so unless I had a crazy budget, I probably wouldn't buy from them.

Delaner, thanks. I just thought we would put a bid a see what happens but I'm not going to go crazy with this. It's the best 1906 I've seen and the coloring is really interesting to me, whether its natural or not (I'm leaning toward not). But that said, the detail is fantastic looking to me. I'll try and see what happens. It's not like it is a 1916d Merc.

That coin is easily a technical gem and it's very strongly struck, as well. The drawback is the surface isn't as "alive" and "bouncy" as one would otherwise like to see in a MS65. Personally, I have a strong bias for the former, and wouldn't let that one go easily.

All four diamonds are present, which I believe means "no wear", MS-60+

Quote: All four diamonds are present, which I believe means "no wear", MS-60+ It doesn't, but this particular coin is uncirculated. You can often see four diamonds on AUs and occasionally on an XF-45. The potentially unnatural color of this coin still makes it a no buy for me, but if one likes the color, the selling price was pretty good.

UPDATE. I was too slow on the bidding. I had intended to go up to $27, but didn't make it. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!! This would have been my first purchase on ebay. But I did end up getting this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/16066828160...ht_500wt_898I know it's not particularly attractive, but it's in our budget right now and at least fills the hole in the album. I think the pricing was okay, but this way of buying is new to me.

Grancap, too bad you didn't get it. It sounded as if you really liked it, and it was "different" at least. I would have bought it too... like you said, it wasn't crazy money. Well, there will always be more interesting coins to come along. You might want to check out one of the bid sniper programmes available to do your bidding for you so the next one doesn't get away. No shame in using them... why place a bid in advance and tell everyone you're interested in it? I use one named JBidwatcher... its easy to use and free. There are several free ones out there, so see what you like best and give it a try. Good luck!
