Gene, You are sooooo correct, If you see a small portion of the letter transfer, You have a winner, if not well, Que Sara , Sara...... . ( WHAT WILL BE, WILL BE.......)
'

You are totally correcT, you will not see the Entire letter transfer in this case, I agree totally, you will only see a small portion of any letter transfer on this variety.........

Here some slight but acceptable "N" ticks, and the FABULOSE "N" impressions...Slight meaning it can be a very small portion of the top of the letter N...such as this... I borrowed this from VAM world as an example you can see, usually I have my own photo's to share with you, note the coin has the wing clashes at the neck line, straight lines at about 45 degrees....around the middle of the neck, is a slight arc impression, this is the top of the letter "N" from the reverse motto ...i"N" god we trust".. Note for example this coin exhibits 3 lines at 45 degrees, meaning 3 clashing's, but only one resulted in a partial letter transfer, the "N" tic...this next photo. shows, what is know as the "IN" clash..where there is a great deal of SOLID letter transfer, possibly half of the letters, but you can get the idea here...

1880-CC-VAM-7-Or-7A
Notice the IMPRESSION of the "I" and "N" very strong impressions..not totally impressed, but still clearly visible... A true WOW coin...I post these shots as examples OF what known clashing looks like, so you will have an idea of what clashes can occur and what to look for as you look at your coin in hand.....Gene

I think I see what you are refering to. My example (coin) is in a safe deposit box, and I am on vacation for a month. I'll take a very close look when I return. Thanks to all who responded.

Yes it has been attributed through ngc. I thought being in the GSA box graded it might be worth more than $5,000?

Well, I have a guy interested in the coin and just trying to get an idea of what it's worth in that grade and with that variety? I know grey sheet has it listed at 5k but that is just a regular 80cc not in a GSA. So if you can help me out I would appreciate it

Thanks cc95

In the May 2012 edition of CoinWorld the listing for the 1880-CC "GSA" Morgan dollar in MS-66 Grade quotes $ 5000.00 .

There is no listing for the Vam-7 or 7A, Good luck

PS, Remember the listing is one point to refer to, finding a person willing to pay that......Priceless!!! Mike

one thing to remember is "Heritage is free for the joining and has a far history of sold coins and vams one can research and is WELL WORTH the searching to find out what certain coins for sold in the far distant or have been lately sold at auctions...GET a fair idea and go from there...
