I'm not laughing, but it's not one. To date there is not one documented case of a 2001 Wide AM. |

On the 1998 WAM the spacing between the A and the M is the same as the spacing of the other letters, yours looks closer. Also the FG would be close to the building, yours looks farther away. |

Yes, the FG is a very important marker that should not be ignored. I've seen various die states on non-Wide AM cents that could fool a new collector into thinking they have something they don't. I've made this mistake myself back when I first started collecting Wide-AM cents with a 1996 coin. Some of the members may remember that post. Since then I have found about 4 2000 WAM's, 10 1998 WAM's, and 1 1999 WAM. I search boxes of cents and I also keep the coppers and any BU red zincoln cents I find. Particularly cents from the 80's and early 90's. |

Would not hurt to check the two dates before and after the 3 known dates (97 and 01) Also the 93
You never know ? It only takes a second to do. Might as well
just ck. em all. There was talk about a 94 but that fizzled out.

I've always wanted to find a 1993-Close AM..you would think in that transition year, they would be made, but, none to date I know of...still kicking myself for selling my one and only ever-found 1998-PROOF Close AM...sold for $1,200, and, needed the cash...boy, are they hard to find, and, pricey... It wouldn't hurt to check all P years from 92 to 08. And I would check D mint coins from 92 to 96. Once you realize that they were created by a die that was intended to be used for proofs was mixed up and used to strike business strikes instead you could see that it could happen in ANY year (Through 1996 Philadelphia also made the dies for Denver so it is possible that a proof die could have gotten shipped there and used as well. At the moment none are know, but that doesn't mean they can't exist. Quote:
