The only difference is that the ebay coin is a proof strike & your coin is a circulation strike & of course whatever that is in the crown.

That part looks like a planchet flaw to me, also known as a lamination flaw. They come in all shapes and sizes.

It's a really worn circulated coin, to put a price on it $3
If it was a really good condition coin that had only slightly been circulated maybe a $15+ coin
It's a nice starter error coin :)

Yes,i agree Nancy a definite flaw there.
Also agree with Australian Coin, not worth a lot but still an interest error & a start.
Should add I have never seen a $2 with a flaw like that.

This $2 coin is on ebay as 'hopefully a error mule coin on 2 dollar 1999'. Currently at $2.92 which is pretty close to auscoins estimate of $3.

I sent this message to the seller: Definitely NOT a mule coin, it's very slightly off centre, very common on 1999 $2.00 coins.

Got this reply: i never stated it was - I said it could be and also said judge it for yourself so if someone wants to buy it them it is up to them - I havent mislead anyone .

I think the seller is the OP of this thread and he's been banned from the forum.

Some years ago, another dodgy ebay seller (still registered) was trying to sell these as "mule like" $2 coins and one silly sod paid nearly $70 for one.

This is obviously the hoped for outcome based on this current seller's own words.

Fools and their money are soon parted.

I can't say it often enough.

I sent a similar message to another seller of 2005 "mule type" coins, but no response from that one yet.

Such a shame, o well
It wasn't any of the coins pictured on this thread but you can't deny the bench top slate background.

This is definitely the same seller. This is the second time he has registered on CCF and been banned. Fools and their money are soon parted - wise words aus coin.
