Not sure what it is like over there but around me I've also found many people have jars, cans, boxes, etc. of coins just laying around for a rainy day. In the past I've found some decent coins by just asking. However in many places people don't like to admit to having money of any kind laying around for safety sake. And too there must be some sort of banks in your area where you could occationally ask for some bulk quantities of coins. Every where you go to buy something, always use currency in order to get change back. A slow method but it has happened to people where they get sonething in change they need or want. And keep on with this place right here for some deals also.

Jim, Just to add to your list I shipped a package for you with the Kennedys and some xtras. Not sure how long it takes to get to a wasteland but it's on it's way.

Sounds like we are in the same boat and paddeling in opposite directions...getting nowhere fast!

I (also) live in a numismatic wasteland.
No coin shows...period
No coin dealers/shops...who gives a darn about the collector
I'm not even aware of any other collectors in my area...I can't say that (okay you are worse off, not that this was a competition)
So its either ebay or NO way.
I have done some trading on CCF but other than that nothing else is available to me

Thanks Mate, If I added the CCF trades to the list it would be too scarey

I'm a little jealous. I try to keep my spending to $25 a week or less.

Whenever possible, I spend my money at local coin shops, but won't shy away from ebay either. There are great deals to be had there and sometimes they are the only option for difficult to find coins. ebay sellers can be as good or better than coin show sellers. One seller that I have been using (a soldier in Afghanistan) recently gave me a $10 coin as a thank you for being a frequent customer.

You most certainly worse than me....LOL But I'm not too far off sometimes! I am like trout1105...I have no coin shops around me or anyone else that collects (that I know of) so if I want to collect...it has to be through ebay.

It gets worse, I used to sell my extra stuff on ebay to pay for some of my purchases but now I can't bring myself to do it
I have literally ice cream containers full of extra coins I don't want to flog off on ebay, I would rather give them away to a collector or trade them than go through the hassle of listing them on ebay.

trout, you've got to get a hobby or something to keep your mind from wondering.

Your package was sent yesterday.

You are definitely way more involved than me, but I would not say it was bad.
