goatieman23 - Look at my 'clipped plachet question' in the forum, I have pictures there. They are not so good though, I will try and get some better ones for you.

Ok, I remember reading that post a while back. Parts look like it can be a genuine clip (for the larger clip, because of the opposite end of the coin), as for the second clip, a bigger image would be required to tell for sure.

Sorry to say that I do not believe that either of those coins are genuine errors.

Looks like they've been filed or sanded, so deliberate PMD.

That coin has been deliberately altered, the filing marks are plainly visible on the edges.

this is a legit error from RAM See I have one, took me bout 3 seconds and it maybe bench grider Sorry Ingine, just playing mate If you find one you'll know because the edge shouldn't have grooves in them like these do..if anyone has one please post a pic, thanks

These are not straight clips and they're pre-decimals, but what the heck, here are my 5 bitten rims, from the top: 1962 3d 1964 3d then 3 different 1963 6d's. All have the Blakesley effect on both sides.

Take a careful look at nancyc's coins- a genuine incomplete(clipped) planchet error will be tapered at the site of the clip, not perfectly flat-sided.

Wow, thanks for having a good laugh at me. If you read my original post you will see that I simply used this forum to ask what a true clipped planchet would look like, clearly I do not know or I wouldn't ask. If someone said "the edges would be perfectly smooth with no gooves" then I would know what I had was PMD. Thank you nancyc for giving me a picture example of your clipped planchets.

Hi Ingine, I certainly didn't want to (or try to) make fun of you. Nancy has posted up some great pics of real clipped planchets there. My partner also wrote a great article about how to pick a real clipped planchet here: http://www.australian-threepence.co...n-error.htmlCheers, Mark
