Exactly! I'm pretty sure he owns a pawn shop, or something similar. If you look at the items he has for sale, it's a bunch of tools and electronics. The same kind of stuff you would find at a store like that.

That's what I'm getting from his other listing, along with predator as a name, he probably drops a couple of high dollar coins every month hoping to score big. As stated before THIS IS A FAKE COIN! You have to remember that the people at ebay aren't able to determine for themselves that it is fake, and you really can't expect them to pull an auction just because someone says it's fake with no proof. On the other hand if you can tell them in detail WHY it is fake they are much more likely to pull it. For example if you tell them that "This coin, even when new, ALWAYS comes with the lower right corner on the N in ONE fading into the field but on this coin it is sharp and clear." They are much more likely to pull the auction. |

Apollo--that's exactly it; collectors need to be informed.
That's why I also try to document these fakes, comparing them to the real deal.

I'm glad ebay removed the auction. And you know it'll turn up again somewhere. I did a search for seller on predator and it didn't find anything. Is this a new seller or something? |

The first listing pictured is an "1877" with a "bold N" reverse. The date is nearly unreadable. Perhaps the seller will claim it's a "distressed proof", but there's no benefit of doubt here--get it authenticated. The second may be corroded--or just cast and patina applied--the same rule applies here.  |
