Looks like a decent deal, worn but problem free.

IMO - not a great deal .. .but not a bad deal either.
How I look at buying coins like this is, what would it cost to purchase a better grade. Numismedia list a 1856 large date at $22.00
So in my opinion, you maybe spend $15.00 or so more (with the $9.50 your spending on this coin) and you might be able to find a very nice VF coin.
But again .. $9.50 for this coin is not a bad deal

Not a huge american collector. I might start Morgan dollars or peace but thats basically it. but this is a nice old coin.

Looks like a good deal to me especially if I am understanding the first post to mean that it is $8.75 and $9.50 total after including the shipping. I think some here have read it as $8.75 for the coin and $9.50 for shipping, total of $19.25

its a fair deal unless you are buying it because of the incorrect notation on the 2x2 of it being a large date, it is in fact a small date. and probably worth $10 easy with full rims and decent color.

So the total cost was $8.75 then correct? If so I don't see how you could go wrong.

Personally I would have jumped on the piece on a number different levels. The biggest reason for me would be that I need such a coin for my type set. If I got it and later found something better then I would try to sell it. I've done this many times with different coins. Or else I could have used it for trading material.
