I have little faith that you'll get 70% of what you paid out; but it will provide hours of enjoyment cataloging everything. And that's worth something.

If you added up the retail values, you prolly got your money's worth. The chance that anyone would buy that combination of stuff, all at once, at retail, is close to zero.

I had someone call with some trading cards that retailed around $800, they only wanted $200. Once they described their "collection", it was obvious they opened a retail box and added up the prices.

I pointed out that anyone could open a $120 box of cards and get the same $800 "worth". If I wanted loose cards I could do the same thing he did, only the box costs me $60.

Bottom line, are you happy?

What these guys generally do is look at the end price and put enough stuff in the lot to add up to the retail value of the listing. Since they dont list any specific coins or items, only categories of items you will almost never get more than what you paid for. I am surprised you got a gold grain ingot out of it though generally these types of listings that advertise gold just put a little bag of gold leaf flakes in there. The half pound copper bar should be salable for much more than its melt value if listed on ebay.

silvercoinrn: From the examination of your list, the 'Buy it now' price of $69.99 seemed a tad too high to my liking. Really depends on the condition of a few critical items.

My biggest problem is that I have no clue about the numismatic value if coins. I really only know a very few key dates to look for. and mostly only for silver dollars. I have about a million wheat pennies and when I went through them all I only looked to see if there was any 1909 within the lot. sadly there were none. Other than that I have no clue if I have any pennies of value

The most recent half pound copper bar I saw sold on ebay went for a bit over $6 plus shipping, thats more than 3 times melt value
