"Ring made from an Australian Florin coin " - Nancy was referring to this or something similar, in a post during the last week.

Quote: "Ring made from an Australian Florin coin "- Nancy was referring to this or something similar, in a post during the last week. I sure did. My husband used to have one of these rings. A chap he worked with took a liking to it and made my hubby an offer he couldn't refuse. I also have a Canberra florin cut out the same as the one in the link, plus another version. I'll put up piccies tomorrow, Gotta get some zzzz's.

I showed this to my grandfather when he was over yesterday and he was intrigued by how skilled you would need to be to cut it so fine. I suppose they would use similar tools to cut gemstones?

This would be the one and only time I would advise dipping and polishing a coin. The pendant is by far the better looking one

Quote: Scratches visible from across the room are not "light". Ouch!! Looks like it's been wire brushed, even steel wool would have been less harsh.

The only thing I can say about this horror is the rim looks OK. I have some worn from circulation P&H florins that I only keep because I love the design on these But even they are eminently more collectible that this poor abused specimen

That one would make a good keyring I reckon. Bit much at $49 though

Some people have far too much idle time on their hands I wish they would take up gardening or something instead of wreaking coins
