Nice Looking SBA 1979-S Proof . Blue-Toning :-)

Possible re-sealing of the set? Did it look tampered with at all?

Not saying it's 100% AT, but it does look AT. It looks too perfect to me, like it was done very carefully rather than happening naturally.

Looks great, but I'd be hesitant about such toning from the beginning.

The Set didnt look tampered with .. was a tough one to open compared to the other I broke for Kennedy halves and all ..

I still think its some form of AT , cause how is that natural ?

just dont know how it was done in the case . very odd to me .. and I've been collecting proof sets for a while now and have seen some tampered with and they have a distinct look in my honest opinion ..


And honestly Its really not as perfect as the photos may seem .. (take notice of some of the closer photos)

If you look at the one photo thats closer to the neck and "in god" area you can see the "blotchy" areas which in hand the whole coin shows. on the reverse its weaker then the obverse ..

Im guessing the angle I took the photos kept a solid blue sheen to it .. But in hand its not that blue nor perfect .. really spotty and looks a bit like some I've seen called "gun metal toned" ..

But again , not arguing one bit some of you may have seen these before and ** I know people have strange ways of doing things** ... And I have my doubts that a coin would tone like this on its own ..
Just curious if anyone saw one like it is all really ..

Seems odd that someone would be able to tamper with these style Proof sets **its a tough one to keep in tact when removing any coin , the way the SBA is held in is pretty strange** and to Break it open without leaving any trace of doing so is a skill I doubt many have lol .. (the 79 sets are in my opinion one of the toughest to break open neatly , but people again do strange stuff lol)

I have to agree .. I just started a book for these and not sure if this one fits in with the rest .. shes sitting in a Air-tite now till I decide what to do .. had thoughts about getting it graded . but dono if its really worth it..

ill think about that for a bit , I have a few things id like to send out in may so . it might go for the ride ..

Hey John1 -

Im still using the good ole Canon PowerShot A470- with a super macro feature and the closer ones I hold a 10x loop combined with the Zoom feature on the camera itself ..

Works pretty well aslong as you have the White Balance set (which these cams and I'm sure others have it , its a "White balance evaluation tool" so it sets the cam to the lighting your using to clear it up better)

and Another thing I do is... I put my ISO down to "80" ... And one light source with the light around 3-4oclock with a couple white cards **photo paper** to bounce light if needed ... took a little practicing to get the hang of the picture part of this but , working pretty well ...

I didnt think AT till it was mentioned lol .. thought there may have been a known case of tampering with these in holders or something haha ..

But the photos really Make it pop more so then in hand ... but geez for a miserable looking coin this one has to be my favorite :) ..
