Many times someone has some old broken gold they didn't even know they had or would never wear again. An for some selling it helps keep the electricity on in this economy, so like the boss said we don't rip people off, we help them when they need cash the most....

So far so good, ten hours down after two training shifts. Working 9:45-9:15 next two days so hopefully we can get 30 or 40 pennyweights next couple days.... First day we bought 32 DWT, today zero, just is what it is. I hand out flyers mostly, and I excel at it! As my average is easy 7 or 8 out of 10 people successfully given a bag. If they drop it I pick it up an hand it to another, lol.... Tonite I handed out over 300 bags from 4-9, flirting with the ladies most of the time, lol.... Guys that don't fear rejection just need 1 out of 20 attempts at picking up a lady at a bar for example to work out, and me that rate is more like 1 an 100.... I don't say...."Would you like a coupon worth 10% on your next gold sell to us." I say...."Hello mam TAKE this 10% off coupon an bring it back to sell us your gold an you have a fine day." Funny how well TELLING someone to do something as opposed to asking actually works.... Cellphone jack wagons are easy, I can successfully give them a bag 9 out of 10 tries. Some folk I could literally stick a gold brick that is REAL in one of our ad bags an attempt to hand it to Joe Smo, and they would reject it, rof ....

Believe it or not Amida, we start out low like 7 to 13 per DWT, but can go up to 36 bucks per DWT, as we often end up somewhere between 20 an 25....
We had a ring come by tonight that was 14K an weighed 5 DWT, an we offered 180 for it. But it was her brothers an she wanted to check with him first an see if he wanted to sell it for that....
So that piece with same formula via a 14K 7 DWT necklace the max we could offer is 36 DWT or 252 bucks....
We are the largest gold buyer operation in the country, via 260 plus stores now in 50 states....
The owner is 23 an refines it all himself they say, lol. An the profit totals last year was over 50 million dollars....
The restaurant bar I work at makes 5 to 6 million a year an we are one of the more successful restaurants in town for prospective....

Kudos to Silverhawk for being honest about what the company pays. At todays prices(1600/oz) the starting offer is 15% of melt, top offers are 77% of melt & where they "often end up" is 43-54% of melt.

Thanks 007....
We bought an amazing 90 pennyweights today, an we spent out like around 24 hundred in cash to get it, or roughly 26.60 per DWT, and that is not too shabby, an boss said his best day yet at this particular mall!!
My manager is fantastic an we get along real well. He will even dip in his OWN POCKET an ADD 5 to 20 bucks beyond what he can go MAX on rare occasions when he can, most amazing how hard he works to make it happen, an it pays off as we stay open an get monthly bonuses. Really blown away with him doing that, as it may not appear smart but it will pay off in long run. Well guess what, one of our buys tonight was from a lady who has been back four times now, since he gave her an extra 20 on her first buy, an believe you me she KNOWS it an appreciates it, an comes to us first....
I handed out close to 600 flyers an got TWO guys to sell on approach of...."Hey, let me test that chain an make you an offer!"
I had another guy I got to walk up an consider selling with a 14k white gold chain that weighed 124 DWT, lol. MY DM would only buy it if he would allow us to send to main melt an x-ray first, as it was so thick, no way to do a scratch test if it was thickly plated, huge chain. He may be back, as he said he would be, an why not the DM said he would go 3700 if it checked out, lol....
One of the two that did sell weighed 46.6 DWT gold chain, an another guy sold us a 10K white gold 18.7, which later failed the drop test an turned real green when 14k or 18k acid was dropped on it. Drop test ruin jewelry but we melt it all, so who cares. DM was so happy with our buys, he let that 436 dollar screw up slide, an it was my bosses first bad buy, an it will happen if you are in the game long enough, just is what it is....

sad people sell to places like that and get such low offers. Not complaining about silverhawk but for jewelry I know of B&Ms that pay 75-80+% of melt.

We never buy low at 25% Markman, or even mid 50's as we get override codes from our DM on 8 out of 10 transactions at least. Codes that allow us to go higher, as often 25 for 10K per DWT an 35 on 14K is not to shabby.... I say to anyone that thinks they can buy gold at a higher to spot price, an still have room left over to make money, I urge them to open shop to start online business like ebay for example and try and find some profit, as it aint easy. And I sure don't get my inventory at those low rate, YET.... I will say 75% to 77% is fair IMO....

It depends on how much the DM likes you lol. If you are new an green and cost the company a bunch of money like myself, I would indeed be responsible to cover it....
Fortunately I am confident enough to know what gold is, and if I am not 100% sure I don't buy it....
Today Quentin Hancock came in former Volunteer UT, wide out from 206-09. He had a Outback bowl championship ring (Tennessee over Wisconsin in 2007) And it turned out to be PLATED gold over sterling as it test good through 22k....
Could NOT buy it and he only wanted 500 and it was HUGE. I could get more then 500 for it, for the football collectible factor and was pondered buying it....
Old Jostens rings are solid, its the new ones you gotta watch out for! Like that 2007. I was SHOCKED, the the University of Tennessee did not buy solid gold championship rings....
It tested good at 10k I was like sweet. Then 14k, and I was like o.k., then 18k and I was like well it is a title ring and then finally 22k. The dead give away was the scratch on the stone rubbed off SILVER not gold....
I did buy 13.5 DWT today, or about 75% to plan on my first solo shift. Got all the paperwork right and all the com filing, the boss was shocked and I only called him like 5 or 6 times all day....
