Let us see the coin. Sometimes it's just not cost effective to send a coin to a TPG if it's not worth it....that's the simple answer.

Agree with both above. Wouldnt bother to send it in until you got close to selling and depending on what the grade may be it might not be worth it anyway especially to send it in a 2nd time

my camera isn't good enough to picture a dark coin :(, but the environmental damage is semi-bad, however, the coin has very good details

I don't understand what the question is?
It has obvious damage, you sent it to the company most likely to give a Genuine grade, therefore it came back Genuine...

Even if it was sent in to say, Anacs who would of assigned a grade to it, it would of came back no higher than AG Really do not want that or maybe even a FR or PO on the slab.

I personally would not send it back just for a details grade.

So unless a coin is corrosion free, they will not grade it unless you ask it to be graded on details? Probably not as much an issue with other metals, but that eliminates a lot of copper coins.

Corroded ... I would not resubmit.
A 'details' grade will not add any value to this one IMHO.

I like the term "Earthy Patina". Much better than the word "Corrosion". That label would sell more coins. Besides, that coin looks a lot better than anyone would if they were around for 218 yrs. Well, with maybe one exception

Earthy Patina - I love it! I kind of cringe when old copper is called corroded but I think we a have new descriptor for it!

I propose that the grading system for Early Coppers be expanded to include "EP" for Earthy Patina followed by a numerical "Net" grade (e.g., EP-12, EP-30, etc.). Think it'll fly?
