If you question is about the 7 and 9 can you zoom in on that for us?

That's looking like a small date to me. But you really need to take pictures with your camera perpendicular and parallel to coin. Angles can deceive even the experts

I was having problems with the camera and shadows. I will try to get a better straight on view. When I first saw it, I thought for sure Large date. I still think it is but the 9 seems to have that little loop and then the 7 looks bigger that the small date but yet smaller or different than the large date.

Is there a medium version. I will try better pics later. I do believe it's the large date but something still loks different or odd to me.

Thanks Roger!

Rob, I don't have coops comparison pics because my pc crashed...but look at the level of the 7 compared to the 0. Also, when you have lighting problems, move the light, not the camera or coin.I'll still say small date until you get better pics

My first thought was small date too...but that slight angle wrecks havoc with my synapses. Peronally the level 7 thing does not work for me....but...the tail of the 7 and curl of the 9 are interesting...

This coin is a small date with a weak hubbing.

While weak hubbing cannot be completely discounted, a far more likely explanation for the thinned letters would be intentional die abrasion.

True, however the surfaces of the fields look original (not polished). With that much of the lettering removed, I would think die scratches would be readily apparent.

Another point in your direction is that I have never seen a "weakly hubbed" 1970S small date coin - if it were a weakly hubbed die, I would think there would be enough of them out there that I would have seen a few of them by now.

A better angle with 2 more shots and a half-arse close-up.

I tried my cheap microscope but the glare from Abe was too much. I have a cheap scope!

Going by your close up photo it is a small date, congrats. You said that you compared this coin to ten others, were they all 1970-S SD's? How many 1970-S SD's have you found? I have found one roll searching.
