I think a TPG will give you an MS grade on this one, just not sure what number.

I like it at MS60. The strike is very good for the series, lustre is there and the rims are nicely defined.

I must be no good at this whole grading this...they would give a mint state grade to a coin with marks like that on the reliefs?

I think it's a mint state coin. I spent some time looking at previous sales on heritage and there are 64s and 65s of this issue that don't have the brow ridge that extends down Miss liberty's nose. The eagle's brow is similarly abraded on those specimens to the point that you'd never know it was there.

There's a die crack that runs across the clasp, and one across the eagles left-most talon of his left claw. A good bit of the metal is still there in those areas, which are both wear points.

Remember these were made on screw presses. Don't confuse strike issues with wear.

Here's the die crack through the talon.

I took these in bright sunlight to try and capture the luster which is still there under the toning.

Just one more picture ... This is what I was afforded on ebay when I bought this coin from an attorney in Colorado who had some experience selling coins. Aside from the coins shown, the rest of the lot was War Nickels and Buffalo nickels. I'll never understand why this coin was lumped in with a bunch of junk ... but I'm glad it was.

An absolutely stellar example, I only wish I could get one of such quality for my 7070.

On my budget ... I feel very fortunate to have scored this one. I wouldn't want to have to find another.

I still think it's MS after the additional photos you posted. If you bought it for AU price you scored. Very nice coin, I'm envious.

After selling off the other stuff, I ended up with 160.00 in this one. It's one of the best scores I've made in the past couple years.
