VERY NICE!

BadThad - MS-64
ANACS - 63 but I've seen them being VERY hard on coins like this and a 62 wouldn't shock me as they try to set the tone versus NGC/PCGS.

Looks like we are all over the place on this one. BrickellCat, when are you going to let us in on what ANACS said?

I have the twin to that 1911....but of 1909 vintage. Mine came back as genuine, recolored. But, yours is in an older holder.

Nice 1911!

63 is a fair (and conservative grade). That is a high end 63 for sure!

It's a classic case where a TPG grades mostly on the surfaces instead of focusing on the lack of hits. All 3 of the majors do this.

Wow...I only see a couple of distractors. And small ones at that. MS64 easily. Now you know why I rarely play the TPG game.

I believe this particular coin to be accurately graded. Would probably cross at the same grade with PCGS and NGC.

Proof that there are deals to be had at Heritage. There isn't a chance that one comes back less than 64 if you crack it. I'd have snagged it for my collection in an instant, and I'm trying to hold to MS65.

Don ge me wrong, I think it's a gorgeous coin and would love to have it in my collection. I think the TPG's, with their market grading, will ding this because of the dark toning around the edge at 9 a clock. I just sent a bunch of old ANACS and no line fattie NGC slabs to PCGS for crossover. I had two coins downgrade from 64 to 63 for similar issues.

Yeah, I'll concede that as a possibility. There are far, far worse than this one to be seen in 64 holders, and few nicer in 65, though.
