Well, here's the deal. I do plan on selling this coin in the future and, having seen the multitude of dis-trust of this series genuineness, I will leave this coin in the PCGS holder (reason I went with PCGS - resale potential). I know that sounds superficial at best but, that's the reality. I would love this coin raw in my Large Cent Dansco but then again, questions would arise come time to sell.

I have seen PO01's sell for more that FR-02's so you may have gotten the better deal with it coming back in the lowest grade any coin could ever get. Some people put together lowball sets and since there is no lower that PO01 that is the one they will look for when building these sets

It is a shame that there is too much detail gone to determine if it has Ameri. or America on the reverse. Still, it would be the highlight of any large cent collection in any condition. Ed ANA LM-3175

It was determined to be the AMERICA variety.

Very nice indeed. From my limited knowledge, I would not argue the grade personally. One day I will have one. One day...

The position of the letters of ONE CENT relative to the links of the chain would appear to rule out the reverse of the AMERI., or Sheldon-1 variety. The other 3 varieties have the same reverse (which matches this one). I think the position of the R in LIBERTY rules out Sheldon-3. I'm leaning toward Sheldon-4, rather than 2, but can anyone make out a dot after the Y?

I can see a dark spot that looks like a dot lined up with the bottom of the Y that appears to be spaced properly, but it could just as easily be caused by a surface mark as it could be an actual intentional dot

It's an S-4. The BERTY are too close together to be anything else.

Very cool coin .. One of those that most of us don't see very often.
And one that many of us would like to have in our own collection

This final pic immediately reminded me of the opening credits from the movie "The Big Chill," where the sexy, manicured hands brush the hair and straighten the tie of the handsome man who you're only shown in partial shots. Then in the final image, you see he's being laid into his casket.

Behold the King of Large Cents! Most PO1s I've seen have basically no obverse detail, so I would say it is strong for the grade, though I can understand the grade. Maybe another submittal would get an upgrade. I bet she will CAC at least. :-) You have a heck of a lowball "key" collection going now Dave, with the 1916 quarter, 1877 IHC and 1916-d merc....probably some others I dont know about.

Thanks John! I was going to go NGC but decided to go with PCGS :)
I know how you feel p, believe me, I would have kept it raw (almost all of my Colonials are), but I may move this one day and as Johnny54321 mentioned, I may CAC it, to maximize the return.
