I like the old worn coins. I like to think about where they've been and who held them and what they were used to buy. Nice coin.

Flying Eagles are one of my favorite designs. A 1857 in F-15 was my first 'major' coin purchase as a teenager and started my evolution as a collector away from junk bin coins to better quality purchases. Nice coin dfg04! Buying PCGS certified coins can take many of the pitfalls out of starting to collect.

Mainly because in 1857 that penny was like gold to anyone and now money is heavily circulated.

Thanks guys! Got a lot more to show so be on the lookout! at 18 years old and Ialready have afew good things, just imagine the lifetime. and who knows, back in 1857, that could have bought a meal for a family, just the historical factor is amazing.

dfg04. Nice coin! Without a doubt, my favorite U.S. coin. There are a few Snow varieties including one clashed with a Seated Half and another clashed with a Double Eagle. I have a few of these FEC's and just love them.

Adjusted for inflation, this would have had about 25 cents of buying power back in 1857

Beautiful coin! Looks like nice even wear. Like others I think it gives the coin character. Definitely a prized piece for any collection.

Makes me wonder if this coin is a variety. No idea why someone would send such a low grade into PCGS. Better pics would be nice, cant even read the date. dgf04, if you are primarily into Flying Eagles and IHCs, I recommend getting familiar with varieties. http://www.indiancent.com is the site.
