One of the first coins I ever bought was an 1858 FEC. It was about in XF condition, but was pretty cruddy looking. So what did I do? I polished the crap out of it to return it to it's glory days... I didn't know any better at the time.  Seeing this one has made me decide to use that one as my pocket piece. Thanks!  |

It is my favorite penny design. Wish it had run longer than three years. And it makes me want to cry seeing those obviously purposeful gouges. I would likely take the poor thing in as well.
