I would not be surprised if it received an MS grade but my gut feeling is it got an AU-58. Very nice buy!

I will preface this by saying I'm a complete amateur on gold grading: MS62.

Nothing major, I sold a couple of coins to my friend, who is in fierce competition with me on the slabbed 7070 (he has three gold coins versus my one ); 09-VDB, a Seated half dime, a War Nickel and a Silver Ike. These did not equate to the Half Eagle but it helped in making the purchase happen. These can be readily replaced easier than the gold.

I am kinda surprised that no one mentioned (or seen) the Overdate...but then again it is not as obvious as some others;

The underlying "0" can best bee seen towards the top, right hand side of the second "1".

Nice coin but I think NGC blew it on this one. Obvious signs of circulation on obverse. Great overdate though.

If luster is lacking, I would grade AU-58.

I would agree it looks more like AU-58 than MS based on the apparent rub on Liberty's cheek and in the left obverse field. The reverse appears to have full luster and might grade MS-63 on its own. So, I guess it's a commercial MS-61. A decent choice for a type set and the overdate is a cool feature.

That's a super slider. Probably a true 58 market graded to 61.

I could see it as a AU or a MS. Does the overdate cost more? probably not right? Its not very obvious

Not really until you hit MS62 and higher. MS61 and below the overdate usually does not command a premium.

I like it and got it for good price (IMO) and the overdate is a bonus for discussion.
