1) can't comment on the trade ( I don't trade my tools!) But would think about if I was offered this!
2) I'll say it is a VG8 but I am no expert on the series
3) I love it!! An almost entirely mark free LARGE silver coin from the 18th century used numerous times. Just amazing. Congrats on the coin!

I don't know much about tools and the market for those but I do know that you got an attractive coin in return. I think the coin would grade VG-8.

Very nice BB-165 B-8! Look at the lower right corner of the N in UNITED; the N was repunched after originally being punched upside-down. I'm guessing VG-8, and if PCGS gave it a grade that you're having us guess at, I'm guessing it's problem-free. Looking at the Heritage archive, don't think that would pay for $2200 of tools, though.

I believe U.S. General is a chinese made brand of tools/toolboxes that Harbor Freight sells. So you traded some low end Chinese made tools for an authentic high end American made coin! A good trade in my book.

A very nice coin, I'm hoping to be able to afford one of those someday.

Beautiful coin. I'm enjoying the even wear, uniform color and lack of any significant circulation damage.

I'd like to give it F-12 for nice, original eye appeal but VG-10 seems about right. Nice trade, although if a good work opportunity comes around you might miss having the right tools...

I forgot to add that my buddy threw in a 5 ounce Sunshine bar of silver too. I already have most of the tools I need but I don't have an Heraldic Eagle from 1799. I didn't have any Heraldic Eagles! Now I do.

For my friends who are keeping score the grade from PCGS: jaobler, you had it man, then reduced your bid back to f10.

And for those you of who think I got a bad deal, keep in mind this was the same guy who sold me 5 full Sovereigns for almost 100 dollars below the ebay selling price (also below spot). How can I not give him a good deal too?

It has all been said - very nice.
Honest trumps the grade in my opinion.
