Thanks, thats a relief. So for the little bit of corrosion I should leave it as it is right for its numismatic value? One should never clean a coin even if it has slight corrosion? Cleaning is for realy bad coins and ancient coins?

You can't clean the corrosion anyway.

You can remove corrosion, but then you are left with pitting.

If I wanted to sell it now, think I could make a profit or should I just hold onto it?

It's difficult to buy a coin and turn around and sell it for a profit immediately. I would keep it and enjoy it.

Cu-Ni IHC are kind of nice to look at!

Unless you want to take up the hobby of 'cherrypicking' IHC varieties, it's hard to otherwise turn around a nice profit. If you can locate an 1888/7 IHC, I guarantee you'll make a nice return in any condition!

It looks like at least F15 details, may it could go VF20, but I would need better pics. As for value, it all depends on the collector. Personally, and I mean no offense, but I stay away from problem coins such as this. Others though collect examples like this, particularly the price conscious. $9 isn't a bad price as long as you know what you're buying. You will have a hard time re-selling a problem coin then a non-problem coin, even if the non-problem coin is more worn, but there is a market for coins such as this. It does make a good starter coin or to help complete a set though.

There is very limited downside given the price you paid, but I would suggest that in the future you look for problem-free coins with pristine surfaces.
