I was incorporating buyers premium and shipping into what I will bid. But now I realized I have to pay tax too. Thats too much. Maybe I can find someone else to bid for me who is in a state that doesn't pay tax..

DLRC does not have "buyer's fee's". More than likely no sales tax since they reside in VA.

I think the coins at DLRC are a little too rare for my taste. lol. I like spending about $100 to $200 per coin, preferable in AU/MS condition.

I'll check it out. But I've had my eye on several coins at HA :( My sister lives in florida, maybe I can just have her sign up and buy the coins for me. lol. I might spend about $900, and tax in CA would add on another $76. That's not fun.

Heritage does have a great selection, but imo they really arent much cheaper than ebay if at all once you incorporate the fees. ebay prices would drop like a rock too if they had a buyers fee instead of selling fee

I've been looking at certain completed auctions on ebay and compared to heritage, even after buyers premium and such, it looks like HA usually ends up being a better deal.

I thought HA had a live online bidding alternative after the pre-bidding closes, so if a floor bidder outbids you, you can still bid online and, hopefully, win the auction.

That's how I interpreted it: http://www.ha.com/c/ref/web-tips.zx#live

HA does have internet only auctions from time to time. As to California taxes I'd give them a call; most of their weekly coin auctions are out of Dallas so you may not have to pay CA tax....

We have 4 internet coin auctions every week -- US coins on Sunday and Tuesday, Moderns on Thursday, and world coins on Thursday. Note that we are switching the next couple of weeks' auctions from Tuesday to Wednesday because we don't want to close them on Christmas and New Years.

California residents unfortunately do have to pay sales tax on coin invoices under $1500. We don't like it either, but we like the consequences of failing to comply with state laws even less. For more details on who does and doesn't have to pay sales tax, follow this link: http://www.ha.com/c/ref/sales-tax.zx

epikur, what you're referring to is Heritage Live, and that applies to our live, or "Signature" auctions. The upcoming FUN auctions in January will have that feature. Our weekly Internet auctions do not; they close at 10PM CT sharp on the listed closing date.

For those who do not know, swhuck is a Heritage employee.

Pro tip: Hit Heritage's Internet-only auctions during the FUN show hard. Everybody will be in Florida. I nailed a Condition Census VAM at no premium during one last year.

I have recently discovered the joy of Heritage Live auctions. Danger, Will Robinson!
