That just does not make sense... how can something like that possibly be worth the same as a VF 1948 silver dollar ($1000)?

The irony being that a 1948 VF silver dollar isn't worth what people pay for a 1948 VF silver dollar.

I could see this coin keeping it's value since you can argue it has to be one of the mints most popular coins.

With a low mintage and the demand still strong, I can still see this coin being hot for years to come.

The winning scored of this coin is only 5000 mintage. Value will keep going up as higher demand.

For example: 10.000 collectors own a glass bee. Only 5.000 of them own a glass lady bug. The other half will try to get the Glass Lady Bug if they want to complete the series.

Have 1 so far. Try to get few more at around $600.

I place my bet on this coin.

I'm beginning to regret I sold mine... In the 1,000 range I would be really surprised. Prices have fallen. But certainly possible given the series popularity... and inflation.

Someone here stated this would be a 3-coin series. If true, is that a good thing or no difference as far as the secondary market is concerned?

Good thing for the series and for collectors as I dont think it would do anyone good if it the mint kept releasing them annualy like they did with the $20 Snowflake Coin.

I see. Yeah, the Mint should have halted the snowflake series 2 years ago. Only the first coins 2007? are worth a nice premium.

The Bumble Bee release caused the Ladybug to skyrocket. Without an annual reminder and new blood entering the collecting of the series, the push for higher prices will end.

A long-lived series attracts key-date collectors and series collectors. A short one will probably fade into memory.

The 2nd and subsequent issues will probably be hardest hit. The first will always command a significant premium, but the others could drift back down to issue over time.
