And maybe you will get one without the edge inscription. They do look nice.
They would make for an interesting series of PNCs, unlike most that are a one off theme.

I wonder if these coins are handled in a special way for these First Day Coin Covers ? If these coins are hand selected, maybe they will be a high MS with few contact marks...?

Tim. Sorry there not for me, however there are people who collect only these and as for special treatment I'm not sure.

I am not interested in paying 15 dollars for 2 dollars, plus a few dollars for shipping.

Wish I'd been able to find info on older FD coin covers with initial and current selling prices - but I couldn't. So, given how quickly these are selling I DID place order. Website says backordered though, so will just have to wait and see if I receive them. Are these going to be offered for every Presidential $ coin issued?

I agree with justmy2centsworth, There is no published documentation on the values of the FD Coin covers. You would think seeing it is a product of the US Mint that it would at least be listed in the Red Book...

They are now being slabbed at NGC. And yep, they are sold out. I got one, but will not get it slabbed, as the unopened cover is just as good as a slab in my opinion. Why bother to slab the cover? Well, I think they actually seal it in an NGC vinyl cover, so I guess you can not call it a "slab". Have not seen them yet. http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewart...DArticle=448MM

Just read this artical in CoinWorld: Official G. Washington dollar cover sells out in two weeks It took two weeks for customers to place sufficient orders to exhaust the U.S. Mint's entire complement of 50,000 George Washington Official American Presidency $1 Coin Covers. The covers were offered for sale by the U.S. Mint beginning April 2. The sales limit was reached April 16. The covers feature two circulation-quality George Washington Presidential dollar coins from the first day of production. Production of the 2007-P Washington Presidential dollars began at the Philadelphia Mint on Nov. 9, 2006, and production of the 2007-D dollar coins at the Denver Mint commenced Nov. 28, 2006. Both dates are reflected on the color cover. Each cover includes the two Presidential dollar coins mounted in visible compartments, one above the other, on a display card and housed in a cachet affixed with the 39-cent United States Lady Liberty and Flag postage stamp. The postmark of Feb. 15, 2007, in Mount Vernon, Va., marks the day the George Washington Presidential $1 coins were first released to the Federal Reserve Banks and to the public. When someone looks at the front of the cover, the Washington portrait obverse of the top coin faces the viewer; on the bottom coin, the Statue of Liberty reverse faces out. The cover permits the viewing of the edge of the coin, which contains the incuse edge inscriptions . Additionally, the cover features a portrait of the nation's first president in front of an American flag.

I can't believe I missed out on these. When I saw the mintage figures, I should have bought immediately. There are a lot of people collecting these dollars, so it doesn't surprise me at all.
My big question will be the mintage on the next ones? Will they stay at 50,000, or bump it up. Either way, IMO, it will place a premium on the Washingtons.

Does this mean that there will be the same number of PNC's in the series as there have been American Presidents?
